OUR COUNTRY TIS OF THEE
LAND OF THE NOBLE FREE
As a man thinks in his own heart, so is he.
As wicked thoughts come from the iniquity of heart, evil actions corrupt the good.
And so is paved the road to perdition.
When a person or group speak emotionally about another as if it were factual:
"My opponent's supporters are deplorable and irredeemable!"
"The President is a loathsome man".
In truth, those who speak such are actually proclaiming their own heart:
These remarks bare no evidence, no value only accusation. This is classic projection: Emotional statements of accusation are descriptive of the state of the accusers*
, rather than the character of the accused.
"I have deplorable and irredeemable feelings about my opponent's supporters!"
"I am loathsome in my regard for the President."
A few may react sensationally to an accusation as if it were true; others will question. Strong minded listeners will discern the weakness of the accuser, knowing in time, reckless accusation brings judgment**
|Thought in the mind hath made us, what we are
By thought was wrought and built. If a man's mind
Hath evil thoughts, pain comes on him as comes
The wheel the ox behind....
||(Alternatively)...If one endure
In purity of thought, joy follows him
As his own shadow-sure."
